On June 8, AFEW International together with Ishonch va Hayot! - «Faith and Life» launched the first 3-day kick-off training under the program «Protection of the rights of vulnerable groups through the strengthening of civil society in Uzbekistan», funded by the European Union.
The event in Tashkent is attended by representatives of 30 non-profit organizations (18 NGOs from the regions of Uzbekistan and 12 NGOs from Tashkent). The main goal of the training is to connect CSOs working with the most vulnerable groups and strengthen their organizational skills.
For reference
In early May, AFEW International, in partnership with Ishonch va Hayot and with the financial support of the European Union, invited non-profit organizations from all regions of Uzbekistan with experience and / or plans to support and protect social, economic and cultural rights to participate in the program «Protection of the rights of vulnerable groups through the strengthening of civil society in Uzbekistan».
The aim of the project is to empower vulnerable groups by building and strengthening their own organizations and capacities to protect their rights. Particular attention is paid to groups of people vulnerable to discrimination - women, people with disabilities, people living with HIV or at high risk of HIV infection, and migrants.
By giving voice to these vulnerable groups and seeking to participate in decision-making, the project contributes to the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular SDG 16 on developing an inclusive society and building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions.
